play therapy
Play therapy utilizes a child's natural means of expression (play) to explore their perceptions of difficult and complex experiences and dynamics, allowing us to assist them in developing healthy coping skills to manage emotional stress and trauma.
Play therapy allows the child to manipulate the world on a smaller scale demonstrating ideas, perceptions and messages they may not have words or understanding to articulate. Playing with specially selected materials, and with the guidance of a therapist, a child plays out issues, bringing hidden emotions to the surface where they can be processed and learn to cope with them in an accepting and nurturing environment.
